Where am I? Where are you?

Well, this week we are addressing our personal well-being status based on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being optimal health. The aspects we will rate are our physical, psychological, and spiritual wellness.

My results report as:
A.) Physical Well-presently resides at an 8-(I exercise sufficiently close to 5 times a week.)

B.) Psychological Well-stands as a 6. A higher number of positive thoughts could reside a little more often. And-

C.) Spiritual Well-being settles, at this time, a 7. I don't believe one can be at optimal wellness when the topic of spirituality is being discussed, because most of us are striving for perfection but will not achieve it in this life. I attend my church meetings each Sunday, and pray and study the scriptures daily. I encourage further spiritual activities in my home life with my spouse and children as well.

Goals can and should be made to further oneself to a higher level of achievement and success. Whatever area that improvement is desired for, one can reach a higher level of well-being through goal setting and consistent effort.

My Goals:

A.) Physical- Increasing the frequency of physical activity as well as the variety of types of exercise is my goal for this area.

B.) Psychological- The use of positive affirmations and adding in more time for meditation/pondering will increase the chances to reach optimal health in this field.

C.) Spiritual- Just as the act of pondering benefits one's psychological health, it too will improve the health of one's spirit. Along with that, preparing oneself for the lessons that will be being presented in the meetings during the next church service and more attendance to church related activities will improve my spirituality.

The activities and exercises that will assist in achieving these goals are to simply follow through with the goals.

The Crime of the Century Exercise- "The Rainbow through the windows of "our" prison" would be another way I might word this exercise. It was very interesting and soothing. As the colors labeled the different parts of the body, it was neat to feel the sensations switch to the designated area. It was a bit frustrating trying to stay focused with the position I had to hold myself in to be able to do the exercise as well as trying to stay focused with my daughters running around and with their movie blasting in the living room. I had a harder time with the color Red seeing that I was sitting instead of laying. I love the color Indignido Blue, Green, as well as Orange, so I enjoyed those a lot. I think the color Yellow is always a pleasant one to use during uplifting and relaxation exercises. Toward the end I thought that if I was to go into the field of Integrative Healing, this might be one exercise I would suggest to my clients. It was a nice experience.

I am curious and anxious to hear what you all got out of it and what you think might have made it more beneficial, etc. I am also looking forward to any feedback any of you may have regarding my goals and current scale status. :)

  1. Hi! I enjoyed reading your post. It was very reflective and I think you have set some easily attainable goals for yourself. You can be very proud of your scores too as I think anything over a 5 is pretty good! I know what you mean about remebering to meditate and to say your affirmatins. I love affirmations! They give me a chance to really think what it is that I want to have happen and make me feel good (which is the idea, lol!). Going to church really makes me feel good too (even when the sermon seems confusing, lol). Sometimes I find the answers to my prolems waiting for me in just 15 minutes of silently sitting and reflecting too.

I liked the Crime of the Century CD too. I have to listen to these things twice, first to take notes and then to try it out. Maybe that would help you if you find them at all confusing. Good luck on your goalsj! I just know you will be successful! :)

  2. Your post was very interesting, especially the part where you exercise 5 times a week. Your goal settings were on target because you would be the best person to incorporate a timely system for yourself.

I found the relaxation exercise would have been beneficial if I had more of a quieter environment and not being distracted from the pain I am having in my back.

All the best to you on achieving your goals!
