Where am I? Where are you?

Well, this week we are addressing our personal well-being status based on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being optimal health. The aspects we will rate are our physical, psychological, and spiritual wellness.

My results report as:
A.) Physical Well-presently resides at an 8-(I exercise sufficiently close to 5 times a week.)

B.) Psychological Well-stands as a 6. A higher number of positive thoughts could reside a little more often. And-

C.) Spiritual Well-being settles, at this time, a 7. I don't believe one can be at optimal wellness when the topic of spirituality is being discussed, because most of us are striving for perfection but will not achieve it in this life. I attend my church meetings each Sunday, and pray and study the scriptures daily. I encourage further spiritual activities in my home life with my spouse and children as well.

Goals can and should be made to further oneself to a higher level of achievement and success. Whatever area that improvement is desired for, one can reach a higher level of well-being through goal setting and consistent effort.

My Goals:

A.) Physical- Increasing the frequency of physical activity as well as the variety of types of exercise is my goal for this area.

B.) Psychological- The use of positive affirmations and adding in more time for meditation/pondering will increase the chances to reach optimal health in this field.

C.) Spiritual- Just as the act of pondering benefits one's psychological health, it too will improve the health of one's spirit. Along with that, preparing oneself for the lessons that will be being presented in the meetings during the next church service and more attendance to church related activities will improve my spirituality.

The activities and exercises that will assist in achieving these goals are to simply follow through with the goals.

The Crime of the Century Exercise- "The Rainbow through the windows of "our" prison" would be another way I might word this exercise. It was very interesting and soothing. As the colors labeled the different parts of the body, it was neat to feel the sensations switch to the designated area. It was a bit frustrating trying to stay focused with the position I had to hold myself in to be able to do the exercise as well as trying to stay focused with my daughters running around and with their movie blasting in the living room. I had a harder time with the color Red seeing that I was sitting instead of laying. I love the color Indignido Blue, Green, as well as Orange, so I enjoyed those a lot. I think the color Yellow is always a pleasant one to use during uplifting and relaxation exercises. Toward the end I thought that if I was to go into the field of Integrative Healing, this might be one exercise I would suggest to my clients. It was a nice experience.

I am curious and anxious to hear what you all got out of it and what you think might have made it more beneficial, etc. I am also looking forward to any feedback any of you may have regarding my goals and current scale status. :)

Journey On~

Autogenic Relaxation technique is learning to separate one's self from the present focus and enter in to a controlled relaxed state through power of suggestion. During 'Journey On', the man's voice is calm yet focused on the specific suggestion. I found it beneficial to listen to it through once and then to go back through and do the exercise. I say this, because in past experiences with using the Autogenic technique, I found that my mind would process the suggestion and my body would begin to obey it just in time for a new suggestion to be announced. The second time through I was able to relax and focus just on the obeying part.

I found the description and application of the characteristics of a sponge he added in very interesting. He mentioned at one point the G.I. track, and I liked the idea of the process benefiting my track, because I have ulcers, and I know the only way the pain and swelling goes away is to be able to relax those muscles. The music of course added to its success. It gave me a sense of being able to be free from anything negative. It brought on the ability to ease the tension in my head and brought on slight drowsiness. I hope you all found it just as enjoyable and were able to find time to apply it. Good luck this week to all of you!

Welcome!

I wanted to welcome you all to my blog, 'Journey into Healing through Inner Wholeness'. "The mind/body connection is a critical component in healing and well-being", and as we travel the journey into healing together, we'll learn how "the integral approach will lead us to a more profound, precious, and enduring level of health, happiness, and wholeness" (Daucher, 2006). See you on the blogs!
